It was all

a dream.

If you’ve already tasted my cakes, you wouldn’t believe the first time I made cookies they were awful. Not just awful, but barely edible. I was 13 years old and may have gotten a little overzealous after watching endless episodes of Cake Boss. This was way before I knew anything about spoon & level, room temperature ingredients, and that Country Crock is actually not butter! I ended up throwing in the towel and left the measuring to Betty Crocker and Duncan Hines; the least I could do is add eggs and water. (yikes!)

Years later, post college, Nailed It! shows up on Netflix. And it sparked that desire to bake again. Yea, I know… of all shows, NAILED IT! I learned from the mistakes of others and started getting back to baking. Flash forward a year later and lots of trial and error, The Unorthodox Baker was born.

Why the name? Because everything in my life has been unorthodox, and it just fits who I am. I’m so excited you found your way here and can’t wait to connect with you!
